Friends in Music:
Friends in Music is an outreach program of CKYO. The program is designed to offer feee semi-private instrumental instruction to students in FCPS. The vision of FIM revolves around the importance of mentorship. FIM students are members of BSMS and LTMS Orchestras. More information regarding how to sign up for FIM is available in August.

Friday Fiddle Club:
Meets every Friday morning from 8-8:55am. Students must have at least one year playing experience to join. The ensemble will perform at special events such as ABC Night and elementary recruitment activities.

KMEA District 7 MS Honors Orchestra:
Two orchestras comprised of students from Fayette County, Clark County and Woodford County Schools. Students need to submit an audition form and pay a fee if selected for an orchestra. Audition information is typically handed out in January/February; auditions are typically held in March and the rehearsals/concerts are in April.

Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras (CKYO):
We offer five orchestras; Symphony, Concert, Repertory, Preparatory Strings, and Jazz Arts as well as opportunities to participate in chamber ensembles. Dedicated to the musical education and growth of its student members, we provide performance opportunities, motivational workshops, small group instruction, travel, mentoring and quality social interaction Our season runs September through May and members enjoy a major performance tour at least once every three years. Auditions are in June; audition application will be posted in May.

Central Music Academy:
The Central Music Academy is a non-profit organization that exists to provide quality music performance education for financially disadvantaged children in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The Academy partners with the community and other arts organizations to reach every child regardless of experience or financial need, enabling them to develop artistically, intellectually, spiritually, and socially through musical study. CMA offers private lessons, group classes, and summer camps in many areas of musical performance including voice, winds, strings, and percussion. All of CMA’s programs are free for students who receive free/reduced lunch through the Fayette County Public Schools.
